Drove out to the GH museum for the 'meet the winners' walk through. Each of the winning artists had an opportunity to talk a bit about their work as we walked round the show as a group. I was so nervous and it got worse as each other artist spoke. Didn't know how I should approach it- give an overview, focus on this one piece (Visual Tourist),resin pieces, materials, process or concept...ritual or mapping...cyberspace...so MUCH to say, how on earth to start?! I tried to just think of 2 sentences to start with but my mind would not cooperate. Yikes! My mind was going totally blank from nerves!ohnoohno..
But thankfully, surprisingly, holy cow relievingly, when it actually came my turn (I was absolutely LAST) I just started speaking...and it flowed right out of me. I don't know where it comes from...but it somehow manages to flood right past all my fear gates and go out and connect. I still don't even know how on earth I managed to convey what I did- but it really seems I did. People were nodding, wide-eyed and intent and I spoke of language, communication, the brain, code, perception, networks, communication, aerial views, mappings, connections, visions etc. A woman brought up the Aboriginal mappings and Dreamings and we spoke of that...and bringing it up to a sense of Now.
I felt so good after, like I had really been able to share something important...with a GROUP of people. I never think I can for some reason...and then it works.B was beaming and happy for me.

We walked around town a bit and then went to the Blue Parrot for lunch...something we had promised ourselves as a celebration. I got my favorite Southwestern Sushi (raw tuna in a spinach wrap with horseradish sauce, wasabi, ginger, soy sauce....and their killer Margarita. mmmmm. Pic of my hunbun:

(I actually love the left side of that last pic- the blue of the floor with that lil table and the chip bucket)

Then we walk over to the gallery for the opening reception for the Tactility show (where Puja is). Met up with some friends, chatting with the other artists..

Then all drive back to the opening at the Parrish museum..
North Fork/South Fork show.
Met up with more friends and artists. Free drinks and live music made for a great time.
Matt made a huge tar and feather bullseye/target on one of the walls. Cindy Sherman photos, Ibram Lassaw had some interesting slide projection paintings. I LOVED Donald Lipski's book sculpture- huge O made up of stacked books. Some woman snapped a pic of me because I was gawking appreciatively at it for so long.Wonder where that'll turn up.
By then I was a little looped on 'Apple martinis'- oh the sweet potency- yapping away with Darius and Ashley.

On to the Driver's Seat for some munchies and to hear Jeffy, Dan and Ali play music.
Talking with some good friends who I hadn't seen in a while.
Home to collllllllapse.

in the story of yoga, spontaneous powers of speech flow from the loosening of knots at the throat chakra, associated with speaking truth and the loosening of peripheral knots joined to the heart chakra. "speaking from the heart"... ;o)

tappin' Void power, you are. you're a secret affirmer. you should start a club ;o) congrats!

:)
It has happened often before but each new opportunity I forget that and I doubt and get nervous thinking I have to have control, know everything I'm going to say beforehand, linearly (which is impossible).
Then I'm reminded that it's all there and will swim out and connect because it wants to.I just have to try not to get in the way.;)
