None of us are ever very far from sending our children into a contaminated landfill to search for money and food. None of us are ever very far from doing much, much worse in order to survive. In the West we have the luxury to own morals; no other animal in the world today has this luxury, and these people seem not to have that luxury either - for if they attempt it, they will probably simply die.
it's so sad but true. In the West, we have these 'morals'...but in general they seem to only apply to those closest to us. These ARE our children too. How can we let them live this life?

Similar situation, this time in Tijuana,Mexico. The site that the excerpt I gave was from, bridgesacrossborders (http://www.bridgesacrossborders.org) is quite inspiring/hopeful...good people just trying to make a positive difference.
