a night in the studio
studio50
listening to the soundtrack to Run, Lola,Run...while powersanding plywood.
listening to Ani DiFranco's 'Up,Up,Up,Up,UP'...while
measuring and miter-sawing backing for 4 3ft.x3ft. pieces.
Listening to PJ Harvey's Stories from the City...while screwing on the backing 1x2s and priming them all with white latex paint.
For hammering on the actual piece? Yungchen Llamo- Tibetan singer.
Confession:I really like the look of my new 'bubble gum' nailpolish against the power tools. ;)

I didn't realise that art was such hard physical work.

heh. Well, I guess we all do what we must to express the vision inside...and the visions I'm obsessed with demand me to make things TACTILE and complex.(and that require some sturdily built backing). But I often think of those who spent their lifetimes chiselling away stone to create the intricate carvings of temples...in comparison, I hardly work at all!

That is some music you are working to...

Hey there! As a matter of fact I was wonderin where you ran off to! I don't think I've received any e-mails in quite a while- I wonder why unless they looked like spam and I accidentally deleted which I find hard to imagine. hmmmm. can you resend? We are definitely 'talkin' and i love you MUCH! I don't think I've seen any posts from you on the friends page in quite a while either?I've been terrible on this livejournal (shame on you for bringing me here) in that it is just too amazing to search interests and communities...I just find I do that for hours and I don't write or post or respond to posts! I'm overstimulated!!! But it's great. I should balance out soon...right?ANyway please resend e-mail and let's get this outta the notes arena! love,D

Laurie Anderson, YEA!:) Actually I'm crazy about her sound sculptures...went to see them in NY..fond memory of a schooldesk rigged so that when you sit down and put your elbows onto certain spots YOU become a radio!!! I kid you not. SO great. The sound is actually somehow vibrated up your bone.

I was very impreesed!

The Laurie Anderson Desk sounds AMAZING
I spent some money the other day on music and clothes. IT WAS SO GOOOOOOOOOOD.

Now have to catch up with
alanis morrisette~ (amazing poem on sept 11)
More Laurie Anderson
Nick Cave & The Bad seeds
Tori Amos (seemingly at the peak of her powers)

I will end up an emotional wreck - but a HAPPY one.
Buy Dylans LOVE & THEFT programme it to only play ballads and gentler more reflective numbers and CRY for America~
especially in view of last track.

I want a charneco IKON WAH!
actually now my hair has grown out and the oestrogen had its effect I look a lot like my icon and the eyes and pose are pure me according to J. (shrugs happily)
Life is GOOD
course it won't last.:-[

thanks! I really enjoy seeing the process on other people's work too...or rooms/spaces where people are creative in solitude....like special writer's desks all cluttered with stuff by a window or such..
