Ok, I can share bits about our wedding planning as we get nearer.:)
Colors/Theme: Orange and Gold....Asian/global/sunset/Thousand Hands
On my second trip to "Little India"(parts of Queens that are All Indian sari shops and Indian food and Indian Everything!)I finally chose a sari (yes, in orange and gold) and the choli(blouse part) and pleating is being sewn. Will go back this week and try on and choose the jewelry (Yay I will finally get to wear a kundan set with a tikka for my forehead/hairline plus bangles!:)and find some gold sandals.
We ordered wedding invites from India...the paper is of super soft fibers like tissue fabric. I was planning to make the invites.... with Lama Li handmade papers...but it started to go way out of budget adding it up with details and inserts and envelopes and all. These came with the inserts and envelopes and are very lovely to touch.
Interfaith ceremony on the beach to be officiated by Reverend Katherine Jeddah Vailakis. I feel very happy about this...as she is a practicing Buddhist and will be helping us tie into Avalokiteshvara2005 and translate/express/join this with our mostly Catholic families.
(and for artwork barter!!!:)!)
You can actually peek at our in-progress wedding website here:thefirst1000.com
I bought that domain name a while ago for a project still in the works having to do with the 10%Club and Avalokiteshvara...so it seemed perfect as a temporary hosting spot for this.
Food will be buffet-style, mostly Puerto-Rican and Filipino dishes to mix in our family traditions.
Decor: lots of floating candles and floating orange flowers in water in bowls, maybe some paper parasols
We fell in LOVE with this kokeshi doll pair to use as our weddingcake topper...

...but missed the bidding on ebay. waah.
We will keep looking for the perfect pair- hopefully another will turn up that is as special...?*sniff*
wedding favors:
considering fair trade soaps like these from Maya Luna Cooperative.(through BridgesAcrossBorders.org)or some sort of Avalokiteshvara keepsake. ideas?

Date: 2005-08-30 07:38 am (UTC)hehe it's so true though...we are both pretty terrible at planning and deadlines.
A friend of ours is helping to prod us into moving on necessary things because it's so late, like oh a marriage license...or um chairs...;)
We'd both rather chuckle over kokeshi doll images for hours.

Re: uhm
Date: 2005-09-03 03:18 am (UTC)but honestly, here's how I'm feeling:
-one- our budget for this wedding is tiny to nonexistant and I'm just feeling too indebted to many people already. Our friend lent us her beautiful house. I've bartered already on so many other things, including the officiant and my photographer friend. you'd be travelling quite a distance, and I'm serious, it feels too big a favor to start out with this early in our friendship.
ESPECIALLY since it would be such an odd time to first meet you- I would have so little time to talk and I'd be all preoccupied!
That's just not how I envision us meeting. I'd rather it be when that's the focus, meeting and talking.
You know how I'm so much comfortable with one-on-one focused discussion ...can you imagine how nervous I am with the idea of so many family members and old friends being there all at once for "the big day". You're an amazing photographer and it'd be an honor, but at the same time I really think I have to try to simplify....?*sigh* now I'm confused/mixed

3) Though you may be too busy to talk with me much, Eye am an eye, so you need not talk with me at ALL for me to Communicate what Eye see.
4) Eye would like to meet Carina!
5) Eye can't catch the garter from here~
6) Eye have a Gift for you.
7) May LOVE hold You both Together in Eternal Happiness->
