Took the train into NYC with B. to catch the Ashes and Snow exhibit at the Nomadic Museum temporarily constructed at Pier 54. Finally.
I knew I had to see it and this was getting pretty late in the game.
Huge line outside with glaring sun....but eventually we made it in. Vitamin V met us there.
The exhibit was beautiful.Dimmer lighting than this..but here is a photo of the interior I found online. The space was created to have a temple feel...looking up you'd see this. mmmmmm

One photograph I fell in love with in particular would make such an inspiring focal point for our home if/when we buy a house. Can't find it online to show you...but it had a young boy and girl sitting within the roots of a tree with elephants on either side seemingly protective.*sigh*
My second favorite was this piece.
For the woman/elephants pieces (why I had to go see the exhibit in the first place...from my dreams)I was much more moved by the film...because in the still shots the poses looked somewhat extreme and unnatural..but when seen in the context of moving dance they were of course Right. That part had me in tears with almost remembering and longing.
Unfortunately,I nearly fainted while watching the film. Combination of heat/lighting/sound intensity I suppose...This is a rare occurence for me. I think it's happened only once before back when I was living in Louisiana.
The air around me became static....then my hearing started to cut off....then my field of vision started to condense. Very Scary. I was sweating and didn't know what to do. Wanted so much to continue watching. But didn't want to faint and cause distraction/drama. I whispered to B and we moved to the side near the door and i would have left if absolutely necessary. But I drank some water and took deep breaths and he fanned me and eventually i felt stable again and could move back to see the rest of the film.

Later walked over and met up with B's sister Amber and her friend Jeremy for dinner at Dojo's on fave St.Marks. The city was buzzing with activity. Jeremy has a fun low-rider bicycle in schoolbus/taxi yellow with a pirate flag on the back. He designs/paints tees and is a 'nail-artist'(does drawings on fingernails). I told him I'm a 'nail-artist' too...in a different sort of way.hehe..
Train ride back.... sleeeeeeep.

It was heavily advertised all over ny (lots of posters on the busstands and around and press everywhere- i thought for sure everyone in NYC would have already known about it).that's a bummer. I sorry. I should've posted about it sooner.

A professor from college once was so moved by the Louvre's Nike of Samothrace that she passed out and fell down the stairs, breaking her ankle in the process.

There's a word for that intensity of emotion when viewing art, but I can never remember. Often I'll jot it down when I come across it, but I always forget where I wrote it. I bet it's in a million little places around me. :P

yikes, I made out well then.;)
You know, now that you say that...I'm remembering an episode of 'The L Word' that mentions similar (Jennifer Beals talking with this art collector...).
But I don't remember the word.! Let me know if you remember it.:)

I usually get the veggie burger dinner (comes with brown rice and salad with a yum tahini dressing).
This time I got whitefish and veggie tempura (with brown rice and ginger sauce). twas good...but I don't love fried stuff so I'm not sure Why I got it. Shared it with my friend.
I ordered a Mohito for a celebration treat but it was tooo teeny tiny:( gone in a sip.

I like soy beans but for some odd reason I really can't stomach tempura for the life of me... maybe I am just odd and have an evil tempura spirit inside me.

this place supposedly makes a very large mohito it's kind of funny in that place and lots of caverns that connect you to other bars in the area.

Even after all that dream build-up I nearly missed this show too!
I wish I would've reminded everyone in retrospect because I'd really love you all to have seen it.
It's going to be reassembled in Santa Monica CA next.
was the warped elephant the curved mirror reflection one?

Yes, taken at Great Lakes Science Center--Eye think of you whenever Eye see elephants now, so thought Eye would Share. One day the sky was full of elephants. Wish Eye would have taken more pictures, it was an awesome sight! Wish you would have reminded us too!
