This post is in honor of someone who made me smile SUPERBIG this week! I got a real-live-handwritten letter and art in my mailbox from Chloe, the daughter of my friend maryann's current roomate. IN RAINBOW COLORS!!!!Thank you thank you Chloe!!!!! I love it!:)!
Tell me this isn't the sweetest thing EVer:

And she made a beautiful color drawing based on A Place for Us!:

I am beyond touched. I am melting into a puddle. dang.

Ok, so I had promised to post pics of my beloved Polly Pocket collection (she sent me pics of hers through M) and so Finally, Chloe, here they are (so sorry for the wait!):

These are the older kind, mostly from the 80's...and they're very small and fold up into cute little compacts of all shapes..hearts, flowers, books, etc!

The colors and playfulness of them inspire many of my artworks...and I used the titles in my last series of sparkleworlds!...here's a close-up of one of my favorites- Suki's Teahouse!

Here's the one that opens up from the bookshape! It's called 'Sparkle Snowland'!

This is probably my ABSOLUTE Favorite. This is 'Grandma's Cottage'. I made a large artwork based on this...*sigh*..but unfortunately the resin didn't work out..waah.This one opens up from the house shape.

And here's one more pic of a pretty teagarden one...the doors open and the swings go round and the little bunny pops up and down when you move Polly on the path..:)

I hope you enjoy the pictures! And thank you SO much again for my letter...it made me so happy.

i was thinking cheshire cat, but that's okay. sooooo. speaking of dollies. i need a small doll, looks classic, like raggedy anne or something. but inside has shapeable metal rods. this would allow me to position it in various dance moves. the feet would have to have tiny nails and i could shoot the whole project on a wooden plywood for a stage. i'm thinking blonde redhead for the music. now do you know someone who could find me one of those? [i don't mean to steer this thread off-topic, so for future reference, you can secretly let me know if that is annoying, and i won't do it] but i NEED that doll.

hmmm well Dorothy looks like she ends in 48 minutes on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=245&item=5566596238&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW)

These divers (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=335&item=5565590579&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) look pretty funny but probably not what you had in mind.;)

Claymation? Ms.A did some funny ones once upon a time...

that's the idea but that particular one is too scary. must be non-scary. must have sass (self-confident in her moves, but not cocky). must have elbow joints or at least by use of the inner wire. in other words, must be able to put hands on hips. i'm sure someone will have this somewhere. i will wait.

these are so sweet. i never had them when i was little, strange because i was attracted to anything small. a few weeks ago i went to toys r us to pick up a birthday present for my little sister, who was turning 8. she gave me strict instructions over the phone on exactly which brats, bratz? doll she wanted and when i saw them they were just so slutty and terrible and i couldnt buy it. i wanted to get her that new version of littlest pet shop toys, but they only had a few. littlest pet shop was my favorite when i was little, as it combined animals, which i was really into, and miniatures. a flawless toy! anyhow, i ended up getting her some miniature monkey family that came with their little treehouse, which is not at all a slutty toy! those other dolls wore lingerie! with high heels! if i ever have a daughter...

LOL! i know what you mean. I actually get a big kick out of the Bratz dolls and own one, but I'm a big perverted grown-up and i agree that they are just Wrong in many ways for kids.
My niece got some dolls for xmas which I thought were really good- and much more kidlike, yet still cool...hmm but i don't know the name. It came in a group of 3...if I think of it I'll link you.
re: Polly Pocket- i never had them either growing up though I certainly would've flipped as well. This is a semi-recent fetish, made possible through ebay and onlypollypocket.com (http://www.onlypollypocket.com). I'm just in LOVE with them and they really fit in with a certain sensibility I strive for in my art when on the themes of cyberspace and play, and virtual worlds.

Oh my goodness! Those Polly Pockey pics just made my night! I love Polly Pocket. See, I was too old already by the time Polly Pockets came out to have any but my little sister (3 years younger) wasn't and I played with her with them ALL the time. I was all about the Charmkins.

aren't they great?:)
I was actually too old too.I would have LOVED them as a kid but they weren't around. little plastic animals were my thing back then. But I think honestly I can appreciate these Polly compacts even more now... This is a somewhat recent adult obsession...I collected them on ebay over the last 2 years.
