This post is in honor of someone who made me smile SUPERBIG this week! I got a real-live-handwritten letter and art in my mailbox from Chloe, the daughter of my friend maryann's current roomate. IN RAINBOW COLORS!!!!Thank you thank you Chloe!!!!! I love it!:)!
Tell me this isn't the sweetest thing EVer:

And she made a beautiful color drawing based on A Place for Us!:

I am beyond touched. I am melting into a puddle. dang.
Ok, so I had promised to post pics of my beloved Polly Pocket collection (she sent me pics of hers through M) and so Finally, Chloe, here they are (so sorry for the wait!):

These are the older kind, mostly from the 80's...and they're very small and fold up into cute little compacts of all shapes..hearts, flowers, books, etc!
The colors and playfulness of them inspire many of my artworks...and I used the titles in my last series of sparkleworlds!...here's a close-up of one of my favorites- Suki's Teahouse!

Here's the one that opens up from the bookshape! It's called 'Sparkle Snowland'!

This is probably my ABSOLUTE Favorite. This is 'Grandma's Cottage'. I made a large artwork based on this...*sigh*..but unfortunately the resin didn't work out..waah.This one opens up from the house shape.

And here's one more pic of a pretty teagarden one...the doors open and the swings go round and the little bunny pops up and down when you move Polly on the path..:)

I hope you enjoy the pictures! And thank you SO much again for my letter...it made me so happy.

Date: 2005-03-22 04:53 am (UTC)My niece got some dolls for xmas which I thought were really good- and much more kidlike, yet still cool...hmm but i don't know the name. It came in a group of 3...if I think of it I'll link you.
re: Polly Pocket- i never had them either growing up though I certainly would've flipped as well. This is a semi-recent fetish, made possible through ebay and onlypollypocket.com (http://www.onlypollypocket.com). I'm just in LOVE with them and they really fit in with a certain sensibility I strive for in my art when on the themes of cyberspace and play, and virtual worlds.

Date: 2005-05-17 05:55 pm (UTC)I was actually too old too.I would have LOVED them as a kid but they weren't around. little plastic animals were my thing back then. But I think honestly I can appreciate these Polly compacts even more now... This is a somewhat recent adult obsession...I collected them on ebay over the last 2 years.
