Sat.I put on some silly fun dolly things and drove into Williamsburg with B..
Pink pompom booties make one feel quite festive and jumpysquirrel-like.

We walked around a bit looking into all the lil colorful shops- it's refreshing to me to see SO much COLOR about! yay. WIlliamsburg's got this feeling of kids building treehouses- I really love it, raw spaces being converted and just kind of played with.... And you can feel it disappearing too as it gets SO quickly gentrified. There's an oh savor this moment feeling, hold your breath, before the polish gets poured on bigtime and the high end stores come to clean up forever. It's all in flux. Once Williamsburg is completely polished the energy will move elsewhere and so on... Either way it's exciting. My fave was this lil 'mini mall' which was really nothing like that. sort of kids playing mini-mall, throwing paint on grungy interior, lil tables for internet...used bookstore..arcade game..strange sculptures sticking out of the walls.damn why didn't I take pics?? the whole time. sorry. I was spaced, just wandering, drinking in the sites. I bought one treat-some silly teeny sparkle stickers from some cute shop for my fingernails. lil bunnies and pandas and oh come on, how can I resist the saccharine overload.

Eats with B and B's sister Ms.A at Bean. then on to the reception...gallery located in the more nondescript industrial area...just look for the number 237. Lots of my peeps made it out and I love you guys for it.:)
Mouse circumnavigates the kabaa....I mean tondo.;)

And a pleasure to meetcha in person [livejournal.com profile] captainbigwig:)!
I had some really great conversations at this reception.
Here I'm talking with Deland Anderson whose work is also in the show. He lives in Alaska and oh how I loved talking with him about topography and place and the Aboriginal Dreamings and language etc etc. GOOD guy. you can tell.Beautiful pieces too.And that's it for pics, sorry guys.
Talked with a whole bunch of other artists from Galou and some guy who owns a gallery down the street, and the curator of his next show...Best part was I didn't feel overly nervous at ALL, I just flowed with it and I spoke my mind without stressing self-consciousness. That's a bit rare, and I hope it'll be less rare from now on. Ok, really too much to tell so I won't even try. Was good overall. Drive back home, let B nap a bit...

1. Eep! LOVE the shoes!
2. I heard once that if you're too caught in the moment to take photos that it means you were living in the moment, not intentionally pulling yourself out to play the role of observer and recorder. I not sure I completely agree with that sentiment, but I try to remind myself of it whenever I forget to pull out the camera. :)
3. Out of curiosity, how do people display your pieces? I mean, people who purchase them, not you or galleries. Can the pieces be hung?
4. Well, aren't you too cute!

Morning, girl! :)

1. aren't they the bomb?;)
2. I guess. but of course now I want to be in those moments again, and verify and reinforce what I foggily remember seeing. pics are so handy that way.
3. the smaller pieces are all hung on the wall. But people have the option of doing whatever they please. sometimes they're nice just on a table or shelf. As for the larger tabletop pieces...i originally wanted to give the option of hanging on the wall too...but then i kindof forgot about that because i was always working on it flat... I may play around with a large wall tondo...but for now these go on pedestals or tables. That pedestal is the gallery's. I'm not so happy with it because one, it's square, and two, it's black and white. I guess I should build my own pedestals...but ugh, i can't seem to get excited about that. I was just using my lil kitchen table as the sample prop at home. looks good like that. otherwise, a white thick round column base would work best methinks.
4. purrrr;)

1. Absolutely!
2. True.
3. Sounds like you need to build some pedestals. If I lived nearby, I'd gather up some of the girls, some cocktails and powertools (despite how bad a combo that sounds), and we'd help build you some. *sigh* Although I do think it's cool if people have the option of how to display them. The one in the picture... I was wondering how someone with a small space but lots of walls could handle it ~ assuming you wanted to sell it. *color me always curious about how other artists think*
4. *wink*

(You sooo rock, girlie!)

cocktails and powertools. sounds like my kinda girlie get-together. haha. but yeah, I do vaguely remember someone saying that wasn't a good mix....
But i've got my power-sander goin nearly every night now...and the wine glass sippies.
what can ya do.
hey weren't you moving nearby anyway?:)hehe

Ahh yes, moving nearby. Mmm...

I would certainly hope so, but then I have been counting on moving away from here for so long (and well, towards there), that I need to take care of some things here ~ mainly prove to myself that I can live the life I want and be happy in a place I'd rather not be first. I'm aiming high. Hopefully that will not take longer than 6 months. *giggle*

I've always been quite the dreamer! :)
