Some powerful brainstorming in the shower, scribbling away in my bookjournal as soon as I get out...energy crackling...something about collaborating with someone to create sample webmap virtual worlds based on the artworks I've made recently...translated...clickable...it makes sense...these are referents..

then i go online and link around and find

My dream is getting more real and I don't have the memory to access it and explore the madness that has evolved.

Ack! Whats so wrong with real life people? If you'd quit hiding behind pcs you could make the world what you want, and have the time to enjoy it!

hmmm..who said there was something 'wrong with real life people'?.

I think we need to be aware of and process what is undeniably going on now. this is the technology of today. It is neither inherently benevolent nor malevolent. It is a tool. What are we using it for? What can we? What will it evolve into in a few years? It is very important to try to look ahead so we are not shocked, and so that we can perhaps positively impact and direct the evolution of the technology.

Do we moan the existence of the telephone? A major transition for our species, allowing communication across distance. Internet is a natural progression of that. It is and will be used in many different ways, each one illuminating an existing human situation or drive. There is a reason that 'second life' exists and is becoming huge. There is a reason that Starbucks is spreading like the quickest virus around. What aspect of our human nature is fuels this? What would you envision to satisfy that need in a more 'positive' way?

As for 'making the world what you want', I may be misreading the phrase, but Ppersonally I envision and prefer that people use cyberspace as a sketchboard for really exploring ideas and possibilities in lieu of careless manipulation of our natural environment. Perhaps urban and suburban sprawl can finally slow its speed, if various aspects of our lives are compacted into the 'nospace' of cyberspace.
Personally (just for example)I think I would prefer if the proliferation of monster malls and corporate buildings were replaced by online substitutes and 'realspace' gradually became a more and more sacred 'natural' realm for the non-business, non-shopping interaction of people with nature and eachother. a thought.
