NYC art fairs 2010- Fountain
Mar. 31st, 2010 12:27 pmway too much to see but glad we saw what we did.
The next few journal entries will be snippets and my quick picks of Fountain, The Armory, Volta and Pulse NY art fairs in March 2010.

I was absolutely enthralled by the experience of walking through 'The Frying Pan'....downstairs in an old boat where the Fountain Art Fair was held. Time and the elements have made very wall and surface into a painting/sculpture....and there is no end to the discoveries and an incomparable feel/mood. Navigating the eerie video installation works of Allison Berkoy within this environment was just perfect.

that cabinet on the right is filled with old jars of actual specimens...frogs and salamanders and strange things ohmY.

Fountain Fair: Allison Berkoy

my pick of all the art fairs: Allison Berkoy's mixed media video installations at Fountain within 'the Frying Pan': fountainexhibit.com/blog/?page_id=284
moving, eerie, disturbing, poignant. This section is entitled The Red Room and is the one that sticks most with me.

another area, you peek in at a projection of a couple sleeping...the woman's eyes opening every once in a while in fright...did she hear you?

peering down from a cagelike walkway:

back upstairs at Fountain I liked Michael Zelehoski's works very much. supremely well done and satisfying.

here is the artist showing us how the pieces are constructed- Not a thin overlay.
