Do you remember when I was spending a lot of time with my pet fern, Ferny, this past summer? And I fell in love with her and she was helping me 'see things'?
Do you think she was trying to tell me something?
Palm Islands Dubai Follow the signs. They're all around you.
I dreamed of you last night :) We talked together for a moment, your face close to mine, after you told me you were very busy lately. :))
I agree those constructions are fascinating, but what I'm unable to forget is how those projects are funded, with petrolium, which is not a very nice industry. :-/
But yes, very inspiring of other similar developments that would respect environment and humans.
hello julie:) always nice to visit with you in dreams.
a major part of the huge growth spurt in Dubai is at least in theory an attempt to replace the UAE's dependence on their oil industry with instead a tourism/resort industry. so ideally, we continue to need to forge ahead with alternative/sustainable fuel developments and start to run these prototype cities areas with alternative and more sustainalbe energies. If this becomes possible and lucrative, the UAE would be positively involved in saving the planet. of course I'm looking for best case scenarios. There are many things that have me terrified of these large scale developments (did you get to see Manufactured Landscapes yet?). But we do need major changes and the shift of interest/dependence from oil to futuristic planning/experimentation can be a very hopeful shift. And for this reason I feel that we need to be involved and help guide the development of these regions in what we say we are looking for. If the world says they want not the top of luxury superfluousness but they want to explore/experience sustainability experiments as their educational 'vacation' this will be taken into account. Here the fashionability of the 'green movement' is absolutely crucial.
