Arriving Miami- Aqua Hotel Fair
Dec. 17th, 2007 12:49 pmThis is my annual work/play vacation. Art overload, mohitos and cuban food. A really welcome break from the NY cold.
coincides with my birthday so I consider it an annual 4day celebration:)
Next year I'm bringing a more portable camera so I can take a gazillion pics. here I was just borrowing Amber's a lot but not nearly enough. saw such great moments.. and textures and juxtapositions I wish I could share...

after all night travel, we got in and finally had eggsammich+coffee&OJ mmmm then hurry to change and get over to the Aqua Hotel Preview (bringing additional 4 new works with us fresh from the studio).

Vision and more Aqua Hotel Fair notes
Dec. 17th, 2007 03:53 pmWalking around Aqua Hotel at a relaxed pace, taking in all the art...at one point exiting a gallery on the top floor the sun hit my face so warmly that I had to stop and just close my eyes to feel it. With eyes closed I listened to the sounds of the space around me...and felt quite in a magic moment. The sun seemed to be a gentle hand on my face...I had my camera and pointed it at the source.

:)!
I tried to remember what I had seen....
Pentimenti Gallery had some beautiful amorphous form sculptures in glass by Julie York..:
and I found 'The Mall' Cprint by Signe Vad to be really odd and compelling..showing shoppers in the woods. this is the largest pic I could find, sorry.
At G.Gibson Gallery/Seattle I really loved Julie Blackmon's staged photography series 'Domestic Vacations'. see some at enlarged sizes. hope she does a book of the series...I want! I've seen her work before and it's struck me each and every time.
Fette's Gallery had some beautiful textile works by Sandrine Pelletier . Here's another one.
@HowardHouse Gallery Yuki Nakamura had a lovely porcelain wall sculpture called Tree Map Pillow..looking online now I love her fictional cities!
Jon Haddock had a series of Sims/Secondlife-ish screenshot drawings that are pretty wonderfully executed. Once you understand how they are done I think you'll agree. Skim the tutorial (link at the bottom of the page I hotlinked). This is what I hope is possible in SL for creation of memorypalaces off of house and building blueprints! hmmmmm
