Williamsburg NO Happy!:
williamsburgNOhappy
Trying to catch up here... I had such a full weekend that updating was too long! So this is from last Saturday's trip...to continue:
We stayed over V's place and got together with the Baltimorians Seth and Nicola for a diner brunch. Learning a bit about each of their artwork but still wanting to know more. I feel like a vampire sometimes..wanting to extract some sort of essence from those in front of me, craving something that drips only so slowly in words.

Then we're off to the Renegade Craft Fair in Williamsburg Brooklyn which I was so excited to finally get to. Great to see people in person who I only knew of from online DIY obsessing....like mypapercrane and jenny harada and m patrizio of so softies and others!
I picked up a few small treats...buttons from plaidponyvintage, a soap from Biggs and Featherbelle (love their handpainted cardboard packaging), and a pair of earrings and big vintage plastic buttons from SacredKitch. Joey Slaughter, the guy who's art we liked at the Affordable Art Fair had a booth with his wife here with a line called Slaughterhead! So this gives me some hope with my Missy Cakeland dreams. AGH but Where's the time??? Gotta lose the dayjob somehow so I can be an artist fulltime and a crafter parttime. One day. It'll happen. Gotta.
Afterward we relaxed on a bench and people watched for a good long time...sketching in my notebook, watching the dogs and couples...a softball game in progress...everyone so relaxed and walking about, some napping on the grass, inspired..we napped too. Eventually we moved on to walk about Williamsburg
took a few pics...loving the colors of this place...

One day I'd like to share a bottle of wine here with friends, what gorgeous outdoor seating:

We end up getting some coffee at the Read Cafe, a neat lil place with booklined walls, quirky decor and the Best tuna melt ever.

Update marathon from last weekend continues.
After Williamsburg we were invited by Luke to go to a barbecue of some friends of his in Alphabet City.
Didn't know what was in store for me but it was an utterly wonderful experience. Painters, architects, film-makers. I had some of the most interesting conversations I've had in ages....about life, reality, perception, architecture, memory palaces...no holds barred...I felt I could speak about all that truly interested me and we all went straight into the thick of it. Wish there was more time...I'm sure I could've enjoyed amazing conversation with each of them one on one... Hope to get a few more pics from V and Luke. I only have these few I took.
The space was surreal...two buildings and a connecting courtyard...dusk decended and I wanted to capture some of the mood, the pics are grainy please forgive...but hey it felt like that in real life with all the barbecue smoke!
