I finally just received another installment/payment on an artwork I sold, so this is the project I'm directing this particular 10%donation to (I've been going crazy wanting to help with this but had to wait til some income):

Tassobon is a Zarma village situated in southwestern Niger on the Niger river. The village itself is composed of approximately 300 residents with several surrounding hamlets. The literacy rate in Niger is low and only a small percentage of the government budget can be allocated to education. In Tassobon 77 students attend the primary school. Currently there are two teachers with a third, a volunteer, expected at the start of this school year. The current school in Tassobon, like many villages, is little more than two enclosed hangars made of millet stalks and covered with grass mats. This does little to shelter students and teachers from rain, wind and animals(snakes are a common visitor). The people of Tassobon have requested Program assistance in the building of a one-room schoolhouse, to be situated in the large courtyard adjacent to the two already existing "hangars".This school will be built like all modern school buildings in Niger - with bricks and cement, secure aluminum ceiling and with locking metal doors and windows. The presence of a schoolhouse will provide not only a place to learn but will emphasize the importance of education. It will also serve in the future as a center from which to launch futher education projects such as world maps, and youth gardens and nurseries. Community members have already contributed sand, gravel and water to the project and will donate all necessarylabor once the project commences. Partnership funds are needed to purchase additional supplies for the building which are not readily available within the own community.

Only $850 more is needed to fund this project, so if you feel you can donate anything at all, Please do, it all adds up!And/or pass on the link!luv, avaD
