CraftyClubhouse: Frankentoy Workshop

Sunday we had a Frankentoy workshop outside Tugboat's North Sea House. Inspired by various DIY monster plush movements and the wonderful ReToyed Trash community workshops of artist Alicia Talikowska in Leeds....we had to try some group toymaking ourselves. We all contributed old clothes to cut up and fabrics and buttons and all sorts of odds and ends and let ourselves loose-what fun!
Here's my monsterpuppet in progress (gift for my nephew)...one of my softest socks but who knows where the pair is so...sockpuppet it becomes!

little did I know that this would summon the spirit of all sockpuppets to join us!:

worker elves at table #1

Emily and the sweaterpiggy with Pat K and frankensockkitty

Emily's cutest lil frankenpiggy

coiled pipecleaner in a waisttie for tail!perfect!
Pat Kochie's frankenkitty, I should've taken a buttshot- so cute.

I had trouble taking a proper shot of Tom working on his frankentoy. something seemed not right in most of these angles.;)

so I had him move to one side;)Medusa of the old ties is coming to life!

Tugboat bestows the Pat with the magic SorterHat:

as dusk falls we finish up and writer Pat Rogers hugs her pink gingham frankentoy with the starry button eyes and ribbon tendril which will have a pink skirt soon:)

Tugboat's is closing/relocating so we had a bit of sadness. NOt sure where we will have craftyclubhouses in the future...might be a while before a new place...
farewell Tugboat's, we have lots of wonderful memories.

Date: 2007-10-23 05:04 pm (UTC)I'm thinking of getting a postcard as well! The prices are better than anything I've seen elsewhere. I sent out for their samples because at that price I might even spring for something fancy biz cardwise.
