So much to try to recap...I'll start with a rough sketch of the scopeHamptons art fair week..hoping I can refine it with time.
Rushing to finish my pieces right before everyone arrives..final resin pours....touching up edges...trying to fix a mess of a house etc.
Seth and Nicola

arrive monday night from long drive from Baltimore in a UHaul with all art in it (Seth curating the show at Sara Nightingale Gallery- Helter Skelter and helping with scope). Catch up over pizza and then I'm up late night wiring my pieces
tuesday Sally and Jay arrive (my gallerists from MorganLehman). house of air mattresses;) wednesday- install at scope (I'm working again during the day)...meet up at night for the opening of Helter Skelter. wine and sushi (ohyes) meet artist Sarah Trigg and others, long talking with new artistfriend Andrea Cote, writer Pat Rogers..
Thursday we've got a bit of freetime before the preview so after making labels and such I run Sally and Jay over to the beach for a bit- absolutely ridiculously GORGEOUS day..we grab some food from Thyme and Again and eat out on the grass at Agawam Park.
then rushing back to the house to shower for the opening night preview. Nicola and Sarah Trigg are in the livingroom hungover;)
At the preview I'm seeing all these older familiar faces- my very first collector for instance who bought a piece out of my thesis show (what a difference that made back then in my perspective of whether or not I was crazy in trying to pursue art as a career...I remember going to drop off the sculpture (a welded piece from the Heavy Page series) at her home and being wowed by her collection..including a piece by my thenfavorite artist Louise Nevelson). Anyway the preview went amazingly well and 7 of my pieces sold that first night!(Pods, 5BarnsDreaming,GrowthMap and Utopia Remix (I never got a picture of this brand new piece- aggggghhh) of the 12" and REdHouseDreaming, Mapping and Nourish of the baby pieces.as you can imagine I was superthrilled and had fingers crossed this would continue.
Morgan Lehman Gallery booth at the fair, my works (including the large 'Self-Archiving Library/Temple' on the wall on the right:
