and here's when I'm getting the leeeetle dangfuzzes out of the resin before it cures.

B amusedly snapped these pics while checking in on me from outside the fishtank (we sealed off the studio from the rest of the house so as not to have fumes).
I sat out on the back deck waiting inbetween dustchecks...perhaps my favorite part of this process....wha?rustling sounds...deer again! I've seen them so often, it's getting to be a pleasant part of my backyard adventures. One deer passes through and then one young buck with new small antlers..hello hello I wave. They stop and look at the weird bright yellow girl who makes those strange hummy songsounds...and then move on.

current continuations in explorations:
*Flickr as a search and tag game: why it's just a bunch of squares! and you can move them all around..into sets and groups and pools! some pools are quiet little ponds and some are feeding frenzies. so fascinating.
*BetterWorldIsland
*EndGames and Positive Evolution
*Digging and archiving and tagging and hyperlinking
*LoopdeeDoops in Time
*more painting the large Islands Petri Dish piece.

Ive been thinking alot of trying to use resin in on of my art peices, do you do resin layers or do you do one big pour at a time? Ive never worked with resin before.

hey there! I usually do it in layers..I like to paint in between....with this resin you can only go about 1/2 inch thick but there are different kinds that can go thicker.
It's really toxic nasty stuff though so please be careful about wearing a respirator and not getting it on you at all...
I love the surface/look of it...but kindof wish I didn't use it.
There's something called Envirotex that I used before...not as perfectly clear if UV exposed...but a lot less toxic...

oh okay, thanks, Yeah I wantr to try and do the whole painting between layers, i think it adds a real nice sculptural quality to the painting. As for safety issues I have an actual toxic room at my school with a huge vent for sucking out all the fumes and particles and such, I deffinitly will wear a resporator though, thanks for the heads up though :) Oh and Do you buy your resin in bulk or do you have a particular brand that is cheap and gives you a good amount for your money.

ok that room sounds good at least but make sure you're all covered. I was told it somehow goes in through the skin...
you can look around The Compleat Sculptor (http://www.sculpt.com)'s catalog for different kinds and amounts based on your project...and ask them tech questions, they're very helpful. that's where I get most my stuff. good luck!

even after all those years sailing with captain vlad, you still get sick from the smell of fish? the gas mask is ridiculous! pshhh... you always were a terrible fisherman anyway.
