yep. I had mixed feelings about the article in general but posted it to sound the bell on a notch/leveljump in general awareness: It will be many people's first elaboration on the term burningman when they're reading through the new york times. A crossing between demographics..I'm always fascinated by how information/concepts get distributed through the masses...
always trying to visualize it....you know how I am... so far with burningman it was these amplifying swirls in groups and subgroups...the actual convergence point/attractor where this generation of energy and collaborative spirit amplified to almost laser proportions...and then the sort of unfortunate dropping/losing of packets upon leaving the membrane of the event..a sort of barrier induced (mental?real?) entropy as participants returned 'home' to their local systems... some packets are retained and they DO influence the local systems...stories, pictures and ans the more integrated packets are shown in overall changed behaviors and priorities...so these tend to have a big influence...
and then the creation and proliferation of more distributed ongoing gathering events and spaces which try to negate the entropy...and allow for regeneration/refueling of the _______ (spirit?) during the year...and into the livestyles....
so inteeresting. I sent carina the links to burnerswithoutborders and such earlier on because she had such a wonderful time at BM and was depressed about returning to germany...she's linked up with a few folks out there!
wow, that's an amazing way of looking at it all in the same context, burners have a local aesthetic that developed, in part, for local reasons. in my book, freaks are freaks by any stripe.
