This be your daily avaD, no-frills...making runs to the town dump, bank and grocery...drinking too much coffee, talking to stray cats, in between painting and clickyclickyOCD:


Slow going in the studio....have many small pieces going at once...adding clay to terraform one..I like it....will be a snow island...ideas still swarming for pieces in incubation...my mind sorting through the concepts of distance and fantasy, self and other, created spaces.
'Here There Be Dragons'...Old or imagined mappings with unchartered territory..surrounding my island..will search for little asian-style minihouses or try to customize....would love to find a little asian red plastic bridge as well...
A series based on the Plan of Yuan Ming Yuan....I'm pretty excited about this...how can you not be when the list of scene-names is orgasmic. For example, one will be legitimately titled:
'The Court of Fermented Liquors in the Midst of Lotus Flowers Stirred by the Breeze'.

*sigh* so yeah,lol, let us meet there for a spell hmmmmm?;)

ps you never revealed before that your drumming was actually 'Poongmul', I thought it was just a drum circle!!! I looked it up...now THAT's awesome and intriguing.:)! do you dance too? I'd like to know if/when you guys do one of thosethere Poongmul-Nori -sounds like something i currently need.;)

Yeah the standing formation dance is alot of fun, it's a real work out when you go at it for an hr. There are actually alot of different styles.

we are performing this sunday 1/29 in flushing and the formal street on is on w 32 in korea town in manhattan on 2/4

both sundays.

Hee I've never been a banner holder- would've been funny!(and I love free food that's for sure... but *sigh*unfortunately still no go. On sat the 4th I'll be at party/gathering out here in honor of the art gallery owner who has supported and shown my work for over 10 years and who is closing her gallery next month. (Arlene Bujese) Really must be there.

But I'm sure we'll will catch one of your performances one day- how often does it happen usually? I'll be a lot happier hanging around outside when it's a little warmer cause I'm a cold temperature wimp.;)

hmmm good question there is a july comeptition and all the groups perform for some good old prize money haha.

But I'm not sure if that's on this year... this new year thing is annual though they've done it for the last 10 yrs.

heyoooh raggamuffin... nice digs. coffee does a soul some good, i dunno if there's too much. convenient that our thoughtthemes are mirrored as ever. i am working on a little story for the mademoiselle (she set me an assignment date). i believe it will involve dragons/ancient reptiles of the deep. and self/otherness. and distance and fantasy. and asian folkbeliefs, hybridized. stories of intercultural confusion.

forward me some of that Lotus Essence. you know how i love lists ;o)
