No work at the gallery today so I went to the magic bay to collect stones for part of my lil xmas gifts. Had to take my mittens off to really pick them up and feel for the right ones. cold cold air. A man with antennae on his truck has me intrigued...he tells me he's tracking the winter habits of the black ducks. "so where are they?" I ask as he moves a free antenna around like a water-douser. "Over there somewhere.." he says pointing across the bay."I'm baffled because they're usually not on the north side...guess I gotta get over there now." He smiles and shrugs. I smile and wave a mitten and walk back to my car.... thinking of tracking and searching and being tracked....where are you, where am i....tracers and blips, footprints and sound, mappings and blogs and...

The past few days I've been making it a point to drive and park by the magic bay, warm in my car with music and mood and a beautiful beautiful view. Twilights in december are of a very special sort...the pages on my bookjournal glow and fade as I scribble on them and I'm always reluctant to leave my special spots. Stop at Borders before getting art supplies...caramel latte and a peek through City Lights Poetry Anthology and Street Art. Daydreaming. A group of 3 near me discuss painting and I eavesdrop a bit...but I'm not interested in technique and materials now...want to know of the aching of the soul that takes up the paintbrush, the feeling. Run my errands and get back home...I feel lost in another realm...something brewing under my surface...and I wonder what it will become. This coming holiday week with family in Florida and then I will reenter the studio with gusto. Ply myself with wine and coffee and music and lock myself in to give birth to them.

:D

I particularly like caramel apple cider, mmm, nummy refreshing warm enlightenment!

Your inspiration comes from nature, that's a good thing - consider how lovely we humans think water and all of its displays are - how it also coincidentally makes up 70-some percent of our body mass and we need it to live; I wonder why we think it's beautiful?? Is it just because we need it?

[end rant]

"As for men, those myriad little detached ponds with their own swarming corpuscular life, what were: they but a way that water has of going about beyond the reach of rivers? I, too, was a microcosm of pouring rivulets and floating driftwood gnawed by the mysterious animalcules of my own creation. I was three fourths water, rising and subsiding according to the hollow knocking in my veins: a minute pulse like the eternal pulse that lifts Himalayas and which, in the following systole, will carry them away."
Loren Eiseley from 'The Immense Journey' (http://www.american-buddha.com/flow.river.htm?signup), one of my all time favorite books!.:)

I've added you. btw.

wonderfully said. sound like a plan.
You can't even imagine how people freaked out here in Portland over the brief Ice storm we had yesterday. We even closed the museum at three. It was a white winter holiday. What meduims do you prefer?
I'm an oil painter although I Love pulling prints when I have access to the lab at PNCA.
