Just sharing this from the SecondLife messageboards because I think it's a good project:
"Supportforhealing island, using the creative talents of Luna Bliss, is being transformed into a special place of tranquility and relaxation and we need some artists/sculptors to help us put the finishing touches.
As a focal point we would like to commission a very special statue to go ino our new temple.
The temple will be non-denominational and will concentrate on the aspects common to all religious traditions of ethical behaviour, compassion and selflessness.
We would like our centrepiece to represent compassion and altruistic love.
There will be a commision of $3000L payable to the artist who we select to create this work of art plus the possibility of further commissions (plus your name in lights )
We may also use other good artists elsewhere on the island on a commission basis.
If you would like to be considered for this commission contact Zafu Diamond or Luna Bliss who will give a guided tour of the island and show you the temple to get your creative juices flowing
Please do feel free to come and have a look around and find out more about what we do even if you are not interested in the commission. Everyone is always welcome at supportforhealing to chill out , meet friends or visit the labyrinth or my retreat area which has spiritual talks running 24/7.
All ideas for the main sculpture commission must be received by the 23rd October as we will be making a final decision by the end of the month.
Kindest wishes
Zafu"

Date: 2005-10-14 03:57 pm (UTC)I went there too, with some folks from omidyar.net...Beautiful concept...I especially loved the poetry all around!
The woman who started it is on omidyar.net and there has been much discussion about multiplying the experience...doing similar projects with various groups of disabled adults. (and teens!).
I've mentioned it before, but I think You should REEEEEAAAALLLLY join Omidyar.net (http://www.omidyar.net/home/), there are just so many inspiring people and projects- collaborating and helping one another..
You can set up an info page for your projects and also give feedback and help to others!
