December 9- birthday rolls around again!
Dec. 10th, 2005 12:39 pmHad myself a lovely birthday yesterday sleeepin in the warmth and love while the rain/wind raged outside. Planned a very quiet day but as the weather suddenly cleared up we decided we should try to make it briefly to the two openings we had been invited to in NYC: STITCH (which was awesome- intricate tactile sensual disturbing fabric sculptures) at my Chelsea gallery and Night of 1,000 Drawings at Artists Space, (friend Mike Nirenburg had some drawings in). Sweet busride in, listening to music on headphones, looking out the window at the sunset and spinning my new om mani padme hum ring (bday gift from B- so perfect). I was totally in a beautiful head and heartspace sending it out, hope you all felt itmmmmmm. Apologies to all for not alerting we were coming in but I really really was trying to have a low-key birthday and this was already pushing it. VitaminV found out we were going in and met up with us and we got to meet her new sweet beau, Lukas (yay to see her happy!). Seth also made it out to see the show :)!! and artist Christine Kesler, whose work I happened to already know and love from a new american paintings mag that Seth is also in(strange coincidence to meet and have the chance to tell her that in all sincerity!). Now day-after I look up her site and I read her writing...mmmlove all spanglish moments..like Sandra Cisneros/Loose Woman...and her photographs of travel. Margaritas at ToadHall and a bit of goodgrouptalk round the pooltable finished up the night before we had to catch our bus back.
OK now here is an Bday alert properly ahead of time: There will much madness to be had on THIS Sunday if you're up to it -at the SagMash party for all of us hosted by the naughtiest cherub around, mister MOUSE. DO come and help us celebrate a mixture of birthdays, should be sweeeT:
