Good news! The Sheouba School Construction project (Peace Corps) that I've been supporting as much as I can bit by bit and whining about... has been Fully funded!!
Thank you to anyone who donated!!
woohoo! GEez, it was sooooooooo slow going for a long while. I'm so glad/relieved. Hope to see pics of it coming along...I love getting those...it keeps me connected. Reminded.
SO with that Sheouba project Finally rolling, I could turn back to World Library Partnership and donate the 10% from my paycheck there for the book certificate fund. I really believe in what they're doing. Started by a PC who realized the NEED for it. Teaching people to read but there were no books available! (one book would circulate the whole village she was working in). She wanted to continue doing this sort of work after her service years... and world library partnership is the result. Hope to help organize some sort of presentation here to bring awareness. It would be so appropriate and poignant in the HUGE NEW all-extras massively stocked library we have here...to show the contrast and point to what can be done. The people here just don't know what to do with money, it's crazy. WHen there is SO much you can DO. Instead it's wasted on 'show car number 3' or some such nonsense.grrr
