Helmets and Hairnets
May. 18th, 2004 10:36 pmSaturday- went to a driving/racing event with B. Shea Stadium parking lot all carved out with cones and lines. He'd been so excited about this especially since I agreed to go with him and participate in the competition and all. Met up with Rbro and Ms.A and some other friends of B.
Not really my thing but I like that you get to use S.E.C. (Someone Else's Car) and you're racing the clock, not other cars. I'm a pretty serious and cautious driver on the road, Never play around so this was interesting because I gave myself one-day permission in a controlled environment. So, a-squeeeelin we went. Guess I have to admit it was pretty fun...but i don't think I have a need to go again. Then gocarts- 25 lap race...man- my arms ached from the vibration madness, guess I had that steering wheel in a deathgrip! Sun was beating down and it was HOT...and I was pretty much done-for after that. Sat with my waterbottle in the cool foodtent and peoplewatched while B test-drove some cars.
Back home we were SO exhausted...but dragged ourselves to check out the artshow and reception at Sara Nightingale's gallery- If a Butterfly. (subtle chaos theory reference title). Some nice layered works I liked by Cara V.Esteles... Photos and embroidered works by Christa Maiwald...one other painter I can't remember now.
Wine and chatting up with Darius and Ashley...invited to their new house for housewarming party the next night- Sunday.Huge beautiful house they designed with a super studio for Darius to paint in. Can't wait to see it when he begins to work in there.
