Ok, I'm having way too much fun over at LibraryThing.com.
Eek what a simple, fast tool to catalog your books/library online- I love it!
Throwing books on there is a snap- and they show up automatically with pictures and links to more info- woohoo! try it- you'll see. What I've uploaded so far is under 'avaD' (go figure), if you'd like to visit my library....
A lot more to go but I am a bit sleepy.... I'll edit and add some other time.

ASAP, it is coming! Only, a lot of my book titles will be in French -- will probably find the English version titles also so you can recognize and add them.

Peace,

Julie

I tried listing a couple books yesterday. The first one was a British bird book from the 1970s and the American souces only listed much more recent editions. All of the British libraries were unavailable, so I didn't bother with it.

Then I tried an American field guide and couldn't find the right edition either, although I found one that was only off by a couple years, so I listed it. By that time I was frustrated, so I stopped.

I'm not hooked yet, but still intrigued.

yeah, ok, I've got to admit, my enthusiasm was on the quickness of a lot of the searches....I was excited to get just some of my library up there and I just rolled over the ones that didn't work and went on with others. there ARE a lot of books that don't turn up in the searches. It works best with newer or reprinted books. Ones that don't show up easily can be searched for by ISBN or put in manually....but I agree it's not as fun as having the right ones turn up.
SO far though it's the best tool I've come across for this.

no not at all, lots more to go. I've got a little book addiction, you see. But I'll have to wait until i get another burst of book-cataloging energy. Right now other projects are prioritized.
But at least a lot of my favorites are up.:)
