Resin Pour
Picked up a few more days at the shop in order to make some needed money for bills and art supplies. I have to order a TON more art materials- and soon.
Today is gorgeous, thankfully, perfect weather for a pour, and so I've done a resin pour on five pieces in the garage.... Heat gunning away the bubbles.
Now just checking on them from time to time, making sure no gnats settle in to the sticky curing stuff.

Had a conversation with a young squirrel who was making a ruckus while I poured. I took a break and walked over to his/her tree and we chatted a bit. No, I'm not sure what we said.;) But I've never heard those noises from a squirrel. There was noone else around I could see, so I assume he MUST have been talking to me. I need a translator.
I thought he was perhaps trying to clear his throat. It was super hot, so I brought him a bit of water. He blinked in a sweet sort of way, watching me and didn't run away.
Do squirrels drink water? I've never seen it? I just left the bowl in case.Do you think the fumes got to me? Do you think I'm nuts? HA! Nuts! HA! Get it??? *ambles off*

thanks for the compliments!
The stuff I use is a polyurethane-based clear casting medium. It comes in liquid form in two parts that you mix together and then pour. It creates a thick perfectly clear cast. People often use it in molds to create 3d sculptures. I use it to create a layer over a painting that is like a 1/2"thick glass. Then I paint/draw again on that surface and pour another layer of resin on top. Sometimes I even go for round three. This gives the paintings a depth that I love.Like layering pieces of painted glass over a painting.

That sounds really cool...I need to take some more art classes other than painting :/
Thanks for the info!

I start by painting on wood (it's good to have rigidity)...then I go around the edges tightly with masking tape leaving a lip around an inch up. I pour into that (see pic- the yellow around the edges is masking tape). When it cures, I remove the masking tape and there's a translucent edge.
You might be able to start with painting on plexiglass or something if you wanted tp be able to see through the whole thing. But wood is easiest I think.
