:):):)!!!!

ok this is good. really reeeeeally good.
:):):)!!!
The Scope fair went superwell- way waaay beyond my expectations. Sure I had hopes...but...WOW. THis is so...wow!
*eyes wide*
And now there's ArtMiami coming up.And people from Scope will be going to that... And I'll have work at two gallery booths...so maybe..?!!?!This is just unlike anything I've ever dealt with before.... it's great.!Winter is usually such a dead time. I hermit/hibernate....and ration off the money I saved from working full-time all summer and fall. THis was my first year of full-time artist...and I did it!!
And now....I really think...if I can keep it up...if I can make those pieces I have sketched out..if I can figure out a way to work with resin during the cold months...and we participate in more fairs...this could be the year. To make that jump from barely scraping by to making a good living and having savings, towards a house and such? Imagine?
YES. I can imagine. I will not fear success. I will welcome success. And the more successful I become, the more I am able to help others. 10% forever and ever.

Congratulations! That's wonderful and gives me much hope. I dearly hope that watching your journal will be like seeing into my own future.

well done :))))
good for you, oh famous one :D

[identity profile] avad.livejournal.com 2003-12-09 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
thank ya, sweets! I don't think I'm quite famous yet- but hey ya never know. It certainly is a lot of people who would never have seen my work before!I think part of the success was that they were small 'collectible candy-like' pieces...And I think in that atmosphere they were easy to snatch up. But I'm so excited about it. Helps motivate me in an otherwise slow/slump time.

i got a mail from adam stennett & gallery peeps i know in NY (who went to scope with adam) and i sent them your site link, well, who knows, network, etc.

[identity profile] avad.livejournal.com 2003-12-09 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
aw, thanks! I'm a bit intimidated because my site is not a 'real' site...not so professional, etc...but once again, who knows, maybe someone knows someone who knows someone who would be interested. That's how I ended up with the gallery that brought my stuff to Scope, come to think of it.A friend of mine who shows at their gallery showed them my work. SO,Thanks for linking up, chica.

yay!
and the 10% towards helping others is very admirable.

[identity profile] avad.livejournal.com 2003-12-09 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's really a beautiful incentive for me. Right now it's mostly through the peacecorps volunteer projects. The project I'm donating towards/trying to raise funds for now is http://peacecorps.org/index.cfm?shell=resources.donors.projdetail&projdesc=688-125 There's so much that needs to get done..and I so admire the volunteers for devoting their time and energy....so if I can use my skills as an artist...and use that to be of service- to help fuel/futher the actions they are trying to make- yay.
In case you're wondering, buying art or crafts from others is NOT part of the 10%. I'm getting an beautiful piece of art from you for next to nothing so it's far from a donation. But yes it's in the same spirit of wanting to help/connect/fuel. I really want you to be able to continue making art...and though I can't do much, maybe I can do a teeny little.
