Avalokitesvara

A friend of mine surprised me by sending a card with a donation to the Peace Corps Partnership Program in my behalf!!! I am touched beyond belief. Just left for me in a little bag in my car! She wanted me to choose the project for some reason. SO Rushing to the site I found THIS project that I'm going to direct it towards. I can't wait to make another art sale so I can support some more. *sigh*. so impatient. Now that I looked through all the volunteer projects again I'm reminded HOW much there is to do.

Avalokitesvara wanted to help mankind, but in tears prayed that he could do more. The next day, he awoke, with 1000 hands to serve mankind. Each hand had 1000 eyes, so that he could identify the needs, and suffering of mankind.

According to a website I just read, Avalokitesvara became Kuan Yin in the far east. I've always felt a connection to both Kuan Yin and the mantra "Om mani padme hum." Until I goggled for Avalokitesvara, I didn't know the two were connected. I learn so much from your LJ! Thank you :)

The things I learn from reading your posts girlie!!!

I think that you work will touch more than just those that get to admire it ... you are giving soul and that eases much of the pain felt in the world today.

**hugs**

Good luck.

That's such a great gift! And quite a surprise. Hey, have you heard of "The Heifer Project Intl."? That's always been one of my favorite charities. Also, "Higher Ground for Humanity" is pretty good (even though it has the stigma of being started by a celebrity).

I was thinking of doing a fundraiser promotion for Heifer Project but haven't worked out details or been able to see if there would be enough interest in it.

1000 hands with 1000000 eyes... reminds me of the internet. Except it's much more than 1 million eyes, and sadly sometimes fewer than a thousand hands...
