margaret thatcher projects

Totally psyched. was invited to be part of a 'Mapping' show at Margaret Thatcher Projects in NYC. The show opens on my birthday (Dec 9th)!! How cool is that!? free wine and NYC gallery on my birthday!!
It's going to be a good year methinks.:)
I had sent out a portfolio to her Ages ago and never heard back:( so I decided I should really just forget about it (reluctantly because I liked her gallery). And then out of nowhere she emails. Just a few pieces...but who knows! maybe she'll love them and also my room at -scopeMiami (she's going to come check it out)and offer a solo show one day!!??
anyway, one step at a time, this is really good. *excited nervousness*

B and I drove into Williamsburg this eve and picked up the tondo and 4 small pieces so we can bring them to Miami.
Countdown is going too fast. But I think it might all just come together!! I've been working Really hard.
We ran out of oil at the house....(there's a problem and a new tank is scheduled to be put in)...but that meant no heat or hot water....and that was of course the day i did my resin pour so I had had windows open all over for necessary ventilation and the house got sooooo freeeekin cold. and then...um, guess what, d, no heat to bring it back...brrrrrr waaaah!.
so, dressed in many layers of sweaters with a turtleneck brought up over my nose (my nose can't take the cold), I kept working.
We brought the little space heater into the bedroom and it wasn't so bad to sleep...but if you walked out of the room it was like walking outside.
anyway...we snuck in a teeny bit of diesel for a hot shower today. ooooooh hot shower, I love you so. I love you, I love you so. please stay, hot shower. please don't leave me again.

Driving back from Williamsburg, stopped at Borders to pick up a coffee...and was wild adventurous and tried the seasonal specialty treat: mint mocha latte. holy moly. Like peppermint patties in a blender and mixed into espresso. That and PJ Harvey (Uh Huh Her) kept me awake and happy to drive while B napped (he's got night shift again, poor kid.)
I should be wiring my works for hanging and doing all sorts of touch ups but you know what?? I think I am actually going to go to SLEEP before 2am tonight. I miss sleep (and reading and watching movies and relaxing with B and or friends)and I'm going to steal it now because lordy I know it won't be gettin any for the next few days.
When I get back, I think I might sleep for a few days straight, stay in pjs and watch movies and read. oooh that sounds nice.and then have pizza friends night.
much love to you all. nightnight.:)

Congrats. I thought that when one graduated college, the deadlines around this time of year(finals) ended. Your post sounds similar to a finals post...hahaha...albeit, it sounds like you are doing things that are enjoyable and in your "major": Art. Anyway, I got three more semesters to go and then I am done...Well, with law school coming up maybe I signed myself up for three more years of stress. I so wish I was in the "Real World" now. Some people tell me they miss writing papers and college life. That's so funny. Grass is always greener...

ha. sometimes..deadlines get worse!!;)
it's sort of the whispering voice..."well, you can relax and do less on your dreams...if you want..sure, noone will punish you.....and you can just keep your dayjob foreverrrrrrr".;)
Besides, it becomes so wrapped up in where I am mentally that I know a certain body of work is 'supposed' to be shared during this framework, etc...it's my little job, granted by the aliens and i want to make them proud.;)
But no, really I remember the stress of grad school...sometimes worse because I was trying to organize and access things/info 'out there' for papers and such instead of just trying to drag stuff out of myself, if that makes any sense.
