And at night I dream of Legos

Sorry I haven't been around-My computer caught a nasty virus and was not playing nice at all last few days.:( Hopefully it's all fixed now. Poor B stayed up all night dealing with it..and had to go to work this morning.:( Said to me this morn: you've got a computer again. :):)

I've been working on art...arranging my little Lego houses and shrubbery...thinking of healthy cells and suburbia, connection/disconnection....privacy and community. On a burst of motivation (rare), I cleaned up my studio pretty well and organized a ton of stuff into these rolling drawer carts a friend gave me. a gazillion nailpolishes and paints arranged by color scheme...flocking/shrubbery, markers, glitter, etc. All in little accessible drawers. wow. Proud of meself. Set the large piece up on sawhorses so I can work on it tablestyle. Got my smaller pieces all lined up on a table. Ok. It's time to go full-force. Searching for and ordering the little lego pieces I need from Ebay and Bricklink. Got some in the mail today- yay. [livejournal.com profile] juno gave me a link to these artists who have a studio next to her and also use Legos in their art. I LOVE their stuff!! And the site itself- too Brilliant and funny!

Great surprise in the mail from mom and dad: they actually found the model blueprint from the house I grew up in!!! I had asked about it awhile ago, saying how I would love to see it because I'm working with memory maps and houses and suburbia in my art and of course that house is the most loaded for me personally. I'm going to do a piece that is a cul-de-sac of houses I've lived in....as a sort of memory file labyrinth. so YAY...this makes it much easier with dimensions and such. hmmm, maybe I should inquire about the other houses....maybe those landlords would be amused by the inquiry. hmmmmm

What color pieces do you need?

Our little NYC club got the lego marketing bonus they sent us 20 boxes of free legos, it's all sitting in the community pile for free grabs. Mainly greens and reds, since everbody in the club is interested in city scapes.

wow.:)
well, it's roofs I'm after mainly. The ridge (top)roof parts. 2x2 especially, 2x4, and some 1x2 various. Just for making tiny house shapes like this and some bigger:

I looked I only have like 2 tan ones of those.

They are #3044 if you look at bricklink. Each lego pieces has a code # makes life easier searching bricklink. ( I just learned this last month)

one of the tricky pieces to find eh!

I've only seen the 1x2 at the 45 angle but they do have the lower cap ones. I have maybe 3 2x2 reds, and 1x4 reds.

My friend said the 2 lego stores one in paramus, NJ and in nyack, NY has pick a brick they may have those. i think it's 12.00 for like a large SUPER gulp sized cup for any parts ... my friend jonathan filled his to about 800 translucent bricks, and said it's cheaper there than bricklink.

Color doesn't matter so much for me because I can spray paint them. I just sprayed a bunch of them yellow. I should definitely try to get to one of the pick a brick places. That's where this all began- I was visiting family in Florida and filled a small bucket at Legoland in Orlando...and then couldn't get over how great they were for what I was imagining in my art.
Thought it would be easy to get specific parts online but it wasn't. well, Some were, and others not. And mostly I needed the oned that weren't, (of course).
Thanks for the tip on bricklink. I just found that site a little while ago and wow. But oh I just want to go fill a bucket now. It's a little far tho.:( But maybe soon. yay Legos!:)

ooh I heard the orlando has a good selection.

I've seen pictures of the european stores, they have some exclusive bricks only offered in certain pick a bricks.

I think you can call the stores in NJ and NY to ask some will do mail order saves you on the travel. The info is on www.lego.com

have you checked www.lugnet.com yet? they have alot of info and tips on that site.
