SparkleWorlds- Suburbia and Cyberspace

Oh Beautiful World, Sparkle World....Been spinning in artmaking and thought.I'm still not clear what I want to do with the screen layering- I've still got to experiment...because I'm NOT happy with how the screen is not 'integrated' with the piece and how the colors get lost, drab, darker when the black screen is placed over.....Might have to try spray-painting the screens in white or green first...something to keep pieces bright. I'm very specific about color these days. Obsessed with certain combinations like a specific pink with a specific green. latex/gloss/plastic....has to look almost toy-like, like a Barbie or Deery Lou wonderland.
I've been researching/reading up on suburban planning/ aka non-planning, artificiality....and cyberspace 'architectures' like the whole Sims phenomena (check out simgallery.net)and AlphaWorld activeworlds.com. Being pulled, can't seem to swallow enough information/images fast enough! Something is definitely trying to come out of me with regards to all this. I keep dreaming these oddly beautiful artworks, in perfect detail, and then when I wake it's so hard to remember all the details. frustrating.
anyhoo. Books I browsed through and wanted to eat at Borders and then inter-library loan ordered:
(1)Variations on a Theme Park:

(2)Home from Nowhere: amazon link
(3)The New Urbanism: amazon link
(4) Building Suburbia: amazon link
a lil mapping I made:

That looks wonderful hun ...

Though I am not familiar with Alphaworld, I know what the Sims are.
*smiles*

Keep your note book right by the place you sleep ((not everone sleeps in a bed - so can't say bed)) and try writing as much down about it as you can in shorthand/abbreviations you can understand later - those cues will help you draw out the information once you fully awake - or later in the day.

Hope that helps ...

The worst part of trying to remember and jot down is that it's COLORS I'm seeing. Totally detailed artworks in color, texture and composition...and as I get to my bookjournal I try to sketch something I've already lost so much...and it's never conveyed in pen or pencil...the colors and textures are so specific and important...ugh.:)

then only right/sketch as best you can the one thing that you found MOST interesting about the piece .... it should at least give you some inspiration. :)

I'm working on the SimulatriX business plan these days. All you talk about is relevant for this project! We plan to have an Active world of our own. Sure, I'll keep you posted!

Only one question: do you write papers?

Julie
